Omnia

The Dem Tea Glass and Cutting Bowl were designed for the "Omnia" collection, which deals with traditional production methods and forms in a new way.

The Dem Tea Glass emphasizes the lower part of the glass where the tea meets the brew, referring to the fact that the drinkable form of tea has two components. In my design, I preserved the thin-waisted form of the tea glass, which I believe is culturally and functionally strong and sufficient. With the level difference I placed on the thin waist, I wanted to emphasize the amount of brew, which creates personal preferences such as light, medium or strong in the tea drinking experience and is one of the most important elements for tea addicts in this experience. In my Cut Bowl design, I used the traditional technique of cutting on glass, positioned asymmetrically and randomly distributed on a plain bowl form. In this way, I aimed to make the technique more striking and noticeable by getting rid of the conventional symmetrical structure of many cut patterns used in the past. The area I determined on the bowl for the pattern comes from the name of the technique. Although the “cutting” technique is a processing technique by making cuts on the surface, I was also influenced by this name and created a cut area in the bowl form and positioned the cutting pattern in this area. With the smoky, transparent and black colors I used, I wanted to reveal the different effects created by the sparkling surfaces created by the cuts on transparent, opaque and colored glass.
